The UK government has come under fire for washing its hands of the problems faced by small businesses trying to borrow money from the bailed-out banks.
Despite countless promises to do better many firms are failing to get the financial support they need, prompting demands in House of Commons for the Westminster government to investigate the workings of the Enterprise Finance Guarantee Scheme.
Across the country many small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have complained to their MPs that although they fit the published criteria for the scheme the banks will simply not lend to them.

2: Worry Over the Effect of Increasing National Insurance ...

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has joined forces with other business and employment organisations to call on small firms to sign a petition urging the Government to freeze National Insurance.
Research by the FSB with the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) found that increasing employers’ National Insurance by just one per cent will cost 57,000 jobs at a time of record unemployment figures.

“The latest research claims that these changes will not provide any substantial help to plug the Government’s gap in public finances,” said Frances Rentoul of business improvement specialists Aspire Management Services.

3: Are You Aware of the New Employee Vetting and Barring Scheme Regulations?

Thousands of business owners and company directors could find themselves in the dock later this year if they fail to comply with the government’s controversial vetting and barring scheme.

New laws come into force in July requiring more than 9 million people, or over one third of the UK’s working population to register so they can be checked under the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA)/ Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) scheme.

“The new legislation is intended to close the kind of cracks which allowed the child killer Ian Huntley to slip through the net,” said Alan Wright FCCA of business improvement specialists Aspire Management Services.
