Britain's bailed out banks have priced numerous
small businesses out of borrowing and forced many owners and directors to
risk personal insolvency in an attempt to survive, claims new
research. Business experts fear the economic recovery is being hindered because the banks have failed to honour the pledge they made, in exchange for taxpayer support, to return lending to pre-crunch levels. | ||||

3: Businesses Getting Hot Under The
Collar

British businesses
already struggling with the effects of the recession and higher taxes are
now feeling the heat from rising energy costs. A recent survey of 700 business leaders found that 61% are worried about the unstable economy while around half are worried about energy price hikes and rising taxes. Concerns about the effects of energy prices were highest in industries with high energy use such as construction, manufacturing and hospitality. | ||||
